Ellington’s business is split closely between residential work and commercial construction. Many projects we have worked on have involved readying land for imminent building development.
Local projects have included The Woodlands in Cary, Massey Preserve in Raleigh and Bannister Park in Garner, Griffis Glenn, D.R. Horton Wynstead, Beechwood Inteceptor, Cary Creek, and Land Development Partners.
We have also contributed extensively to the restoration of historic buildings in the Triangle.

As a full-sized operation, our philosophy is to ensure that all the resources necessary – including a highly-skilled work force and top of the line equipment – are in place at the project site to minimize downtime.
We offer specialized services, allowing you to work with any or all of our divisions based on your needs. Our Utility Division, which initially served as a grading subcontractor, continues to provide sewer and storm water services for other contractors.
When you choose Ellington for your utility projects, we'll ensure you save time and money. Our dedicated “punch crew” works in conjunction with our normal utility crews to prepare a project site for pre- and post-warranty final inspections, ensuring violations won't happen and greatly reducing delays in completion.
We are your groundwork for success.
The Ellington Companies are a full-service team, and the leading force among contractors in our class.
Our company was formed by Fred, David, and Matt Ellington in 1994, and has grown from a utility subcontractor into a general contracting firm with a large mechanical fleet, able to provide for all aspects of site development.
Based in Zebulon, North Carolina, we serve clients throughout North Carolina and Virginia. A fixture in the Triangle area, our reputation for excellence has been built on client trust.
Safety is among our highest priorities. We are fully compliant with OSHA standards and recommended safety practices, including personal protective equipment, crew training, trench safety, and confined space entry.
For 6 consecutive years, Ellington Contractors has received the NC Department of Labor Gold Award for outstanding performance in the area of occupational safety and health.
Our personnel work closely with property owners, engineers, and the federal state and local erosion control inspectors to ensure the preservation of important streams and wetlands during construction and prevent costly and time consuming-delays.
Control and containment of waste material are expected from our crews. Inspections are regularly conducted to ensure compliance.
With a strong understanding of business development, we welcome every opportunity to assist our clients well before we mobilize to the job site.
We'll serve your interests and meet your demands by providing you with the right personnel, the best equipment and strategically placed facilities to perform safely, on time, and on budget.
