200 S. Salisbury St.
Ellington Contractors undertook the restoration of a building in downtown Raleigh at 200 South Sailsbury Street. The building is over a century old and previously housed the Brown-Wynne funeral home and Raleigh Industrial Bank.
The aim was to restore the facade built in 1920 and featuring a Classical style, which, in 1972, had been covered with a marble and stucco exterior.
Ellington worked with state, county and local historic groups to preserve original material and replicate what could not be saved.
Along with James A. Goodnight and Maurer Architecture, Ellington Contractors were awarded the 2013 Anthemion Award for undertaking this historic project.
